SSC CGL Syllabus-Tier-I, Tier II, Tier-III, and Tier IV

SSC CGL Syllabus,The Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) exam is one of the most sought-after government job exams in India. The SSC CGL exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) every year to recruit candidates for various Group B and Group C posts in different ministries, departments, and organizations of the Government of India.

The SSC CGL exam is divided into four tiers: Tier-I, Tier II, Tier-III, and Tier IV. Each tier has a different syllabus and exam pattern. In this blog, we will discuss the SSC CGL Syllabus 2023 for each tier.

SSC CGL Tier-I Syllabus 2023:

The Tier-I exam is a computer-based exam that consists of four sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. The exam will have 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) that are to be attempted in 60 minutes. The syllabus for each section is as follows:

  1. General Intelligence and Reasoning: The questions in this section will test the candidate’s logical and analytical skills. The syllabus includes topics like analogies, coding and decoding, series, syllogism, puzzles, blood relations, and direction sense.
  2. General Awareness: The questions in this section will test the candidate’s knowledge of current affairs and general knowledge. The syllabus includes topics like history, geography, economics, polity, science, and technology.
  3. Quantitative Aptitude: The questions in this section will test the candidate’s mathematical and numerical ability. The syllabus includes topics like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and data interpretation.
  4. English Comprehension: The questions in this section will test the candidate’s ability to understand and comprehend English. The syllabus includes topics like reading comprehension, sentence correction, error detection, and vocabulary.

SSC CGL Tier-II Syllabus 2023:

The Tier-II exam is also a computer-based exam that consists of four papers: Paper-I (Quantitative Aptitude), Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension), Paper-III (Statistics), and Paper-IV (General Studies Finance and Economics). The exam will have 100 MCQs that are to be attempted in 120 minutes for each paper. The syllabus for each paper is as follows:

  1. Paper-I (Quantitative Aptitude): The syllabus for this paper is the same as that of the Quantitative Aptitude section of Tier-I. The questions in this paper will test the candidate’s mathematical and numerical ability.
  2. Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension): The syllabus for this paper is the same as that of the English Comprehension section of Tier-I. The questions in this paper will test the candidate’s ability to understand and comprehend English.
  3. Paper-III (Statistics): The syllabus for this paper includes topics like descriptive statistics, probability, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and analysis of variance.
  4. Paper-IV (General Studies Finance and Economics): The syllabus for this paper includes topics like finance and accounting, economics and governance, and current affairs.

SSC CGL Tier-III Syllabus 2023:

The Tier-III exam is a descriptive exam that is conducted offline. The exam consists of one paper that is to be attempted in 60 minutes. The syllabus for this paper is as follows:

  1. Descriptive Paper: The syllabus for this paper includes topics like essay writing, letter writing, and précis writing. The candidate will be required to write an essay of 250 words, a letter or application of 150 words, and a précis of 150 words.

SSC CGL Tier-IV Syllabus 2023:

The Tier-IV exam is a skill test that is conducted for specific posts like Tax Assistants (Central Excise and Income Tax). The exam consists of two tests: Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) and Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). The syllabus for each test is as follows:

  1. Data Entry Speed Test (DEST): The candidate will be given a passage of 2000 key depressions for 15 minutes. The candidate should have a typing speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour.
  2. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): The candidate will be tested on their proficiency in Word Processing, Spread Sheet, and Generation of Slides.

Candidates who qualify for the Tier-I exam will be eligible to appear for the Tier-II exam. Candidates who qualify for the Tier-II exam will be eligible to appear for the Tier-III exam. Candidates who qualify for the Tier-III exam will be eligible to appear for the Tier-IV exam.
